With the description of the new temple, God also describes the work, clothing, and allotments for the priests. The priests had one primary purpose — to demonstrate what was holy and what was common (44:23). The conduct of their lives; the choices they made; the things they valued — all were to reveal their intent to honor the glory of God. While we are not priests in a temple, Peter says we are priests called to demonstrate the difference between light and darkness. The choices we make and the things we value are to highlight the difference between the holy and the common. What a privilege it is to live out the glory of God in this world. What a privilege it is to reveal a higher calling. What a privilege it is to be called children of God. Let’s be the demonstration of God’s holiness.
