Sunday, June 26, fifteen campers left for the Mid-South Youth Camp near Henderson, Tennessee. The week long camp will be a wonderful opportunity for them to be in nature, enjoy time together, and learn more about the love of God.

Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes 2011

One highlight of the 2011 Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes convention was the puppet program which the youth did. While there were six youth involved in the puppets themselves, several adults were in the background working to bring this about.

Each group participating had fifteen minutes to set up their stage, preform their puppet skit, and then clear the stage. They were grades on time keeping, content, presentation, and art work.

Our group did an outstanding job. The clips below do not do them justice. They are large files so may take a while to download. The lyrics to the song the fish sing are original and written by Haley.

Many thanks to all those who make this possible as well as those who were on hand to support the group.

Youth Mission Trip ’10

The youth chaperoned by Ron and Raye left Saturday morning, July 24, heading for Atlanta and then Wetoga Camp Sunday. After orientation Sunday the campers arrive Monday. These will be intercity children from Atlanta. The goal is to have one-on-one supervision, one counselor for one camper. Raye helped set up the camp, but this is her first time just to be a counselor. Everyone will return next weekend. You are the light of the world. (Matt 5:14a)

Wilderness Trek ’10

This morning (Thursday, June 24) four youth and three chaperones left for Colorado. They headed out I-40 to Amarillo TX to overnight. A local congregation will host them for the night. Then Friday they head on to Colorado to begin preparation for the trek.

After worship Sunday they will load up and begin their journey. They will sleep in tents until Friday night. Monday they practice repelling. Tuesday they hike to low camp. Wednesday is a hard hike to high camp. Thursday is a day of reflection. Then early Friday morning they hike to the summit and return to the lodge that afternoon.

Saturday they begin their return trip to Memphis stopping over in Oklahoma. They hope to be back in time for the July 4th fellowship. We wish them the Lord’s protection as they journey.

30 hour Famine

The youth will be participating in a 30 Hour Famine April 23-25th. They will be collecting donations to help feed starving children throughout the world. They will also be fasting for 30 hours just to see what it is like to be really be Hungry. They will also participate in some different activities to help them realize how it feels to be homeless, or to live in poverty. They would greatly appreciate any help you can give with this. You can check out www.30hourfamine.org for some more information. There will also a way to donate online, more info about that will come later! This will be done inconjunction with our Spring Youth Retreat too!
