On our second day of relief work, we helped repair a house which is being used as a headquarters for some relief efforts in the area. The house was damaged by the tsunami when five feet of water came into it. Many repairs had already be made. We had three tasks given to us. The one [...] Read more…
On November 8 (Tue) a group from the Mito and Park Avenue churches worked together to feed over 100 people who are living in temporary housing following the earthquake and tsunami of March 11. In various parts of the town of Ishinomaki are temporary housing. These are generally 2-3 rooms with a kitchen, bath, and toilet. [...] Read more…
The Park Avenue church group joined with the Mito church group to do work in the Ishinomaki area. We lodged in the church building of the Sendai church of Christ. Our journey this year started with a delay. The flight from Memphis to Dallas was delayed because they needed to change a tire. In the process the jack broke. Plans have been made for our trip to Japan for 2011. Included in this trip will be attendance at the Asian Missions Forum in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and a visit to the Hayes in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
