Again it has been a bit over two weeks since our last report. It has been a very busy time. The Wednesday classes with the Ochanomizu church and the Thursday classes with the Tachikawa church are over. Both were well received. We have been busy with classes and visits as well as preparing unexpected lessons. The classes at Ochanomizu on the Holy Spirit and at Tachikawa on the Aroma of Christ are going well and quickly. Both topics seem to fit needs which each [...] Read more… Location of Hakone Bible Camp for Ochanomizu Church. This past weekend we participated in the Hakone Bible Camp for the Ochanomizu church. Hakone is near Mt. Fuji and has a crater lake, Lake Ashi. It was a famous check point during the Edo period under the Tokugawa Shogunate for those traveling from Kyoto to Edo. This congregation sponsored us while missionaries in Japan (1977-86) so we have had a long term relationship with them. Worship with the Ochanomizu church. Sunday (August 15) was the first time for us to worship with them in their new building. The church owns the property and used [...] Read more… Today (Aug 15) we worshiped with the Ochanomizu congregation in downtown Tokyo. Josephine had a ladies’ class yesterday (Aug 14) as well as a two hour class today. Last week the church had their annual CS (church school) Camp. This is a time for children in Sunday school and their friends to get out of Tokyo [...] Read more… This is an update on the past week’s activities. It continues to be hot here though we got a break a couple of days ago as a typhoon past to the west of the island. Fellowship time with the Matsudo congregation following morning assembly. We first met them in 1978. He is the minister for the Tachikawa church. They live in an apartment at the other end of the floor where our dorm room is. We also had lunch with Masa, minister for [...] Read more… Mr. Rainier, 14,400 feet above sea level, as seen from our plane as it descended to the Seattle/Tacoma Airport. Our flight this year routed us through Seattle, Washington. This is a better route since the flight is broken up with 2 hours on the ground between a 4 and half hour flight from Memphis to Seattle [...] Read more… We will leave Memphis Monday, August 2, and return Wednesday, October 7. Dr. Phil McMillion, professor of Old Testament, at the Harding Graduate School and former member of the Park Avenue congregation will come for ten days to see the work being done by those connected with that congregation.
