God's Desire for Mothers (2 Timothy 3:14-16, 1 Kings 2:19, 2 Timothy 1:5)

Dana Baldwin, June 13, 2010
Part of the Study about Family series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Mothers - we love them, honor them, and get frustrated with them. Being a mother isn't easy. Mothers are an important part of God's desire for people in our lives to assist us. Mothers who invest in their children the time and energy to help them know the God that they love will fulfill the desire of God.

2 Timothy 3:14-16

14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it 15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, (ESV)

1 Kings 2:19

19 So Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him on behalf of Adonijah. And the king rose to meet her and bowed down to her. Then he sat on his throne and had a seat brought for the king's mother, and she sat on his right. (ESV)

2 Timothy 1:5

I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well. (ESV)
