NONOGAKI REPORTS – MAY 2019

MAY 17, 2019 – A KOREAN MAN FROM A PRESBYTERIAN BACKGROUND

Recently a Korean man from a Presbyterian background started coming to our congregation. Regardless of his background all of us welcome him. I began to learn about his life. He is married to a Japanese woman and has a daughter who is 17 years old.

He studied Chinese literature in China and was getting a Ph.D. Around that time he moved to Japan and married her.

He is very eager to study the Bible and wants to teach the Bible to his wife and daughter. I am very glad to get to know him and his family.

THE AMERICAN CONGREGATION’S WORK

This year we have a lot of things going on in the American congregation. Ed Linebaugh, a retired Army man, came to Yokota to help us. He arrived at Narita Airport on 26 April and will stay at the church building until 17 June. While he is here with us, he preaches and teaches classes. Also, he has made contact with the Base chaplain to spread words about Yokota Church of Christ.

From 14 to 18 July we will have VBS. Paul Crouch (a former member of the Yokota) and his team of eight will come to work with us. They will conduct a VBS. Its theme is “The Life of Jesus.” While Ed is here with us, he is going to make sure to let people know we have VBS. Also, he made contact with the manager of Star and Stripes, the base paper. Church brochures and fliers will be inserted with the paper.
