Jeremiah 46-48

Surrounding nations will fall.
Jeremiah prophesies against Egypt, Philistia, and Moab.  Each nation believed it was impregnable.  Each trusted in its own gods.  God is going to use Babylon to destroy each nation.  Jeremiah is a prophet of God and his work has centered on Jerusalem.  But God is King and Lord of all nations.  While Jerusalem was the place that he allowed a temple to be built for him and the place where he name was previously revered, God reigns over all nations.  God is still at work in all nations — those who profess to know him and those who do not.  God works in all nations to bring about his will and purpose.  We remain faithful watching with amazement and awe as God works among the nations.  We may not understand or perceive what God’s work is, but we by faith live knowing that God is never surprised by the events in our world.  He continues to act, patiently endures, and exercises his sovereignty over all.
