Ezekiel 35-37

Made alive.

The first part of chapter 37 has long been a favorite of biblical scholars and a song writer or two. The image of dead and decaying bones being brought back to life is a vivid reminder that our God can do great things.  He can restore a broken and dead nation.  He can bring life to lifeless Israel. He can proclaim them to be his people again.  God through Ezekiel speaks words of hope and life. In the same way, God speaks words of life to us who follow Jesus.  Jesus called himself “the bread of life” and that he gave “living water” and in John 14:6, he said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”  This world may look for life in a variety of ways but real life comes through Jesus.  We are thankful for the life that we have and we live in hope and thanksgiving each day.
