Ignorance.
Several times in our reading, God accuses Israel of failing to follow him. The people ask when or how did they fail. They didn’t see their faults. They offered defiled sacrifices. They married women who worshiped other gods. They failed to give the tithe. The people were blind to their sin. We, too, are often blind. We have engaged for so long in a practice that we fail to recognize our sin. Let’s live with intention. Let’s not walk through life ignoring our thoughts and practices. Let’s be alert and aware of what we are doing, saying, and thinking. If we live intentionally, then we see the glory of God and affirm his majesty. We will point others to the Father. We will praise and honor the One who has brought us into His kingdom.
