The Sermon.
Some say it is the best sermon ever spoken. Some say that life would be very different if we all lived by this sermon. Some say it is too idealistic. Some say the sermon is too discouraging. The sermon demands a response. One who is passive about the sermon will be passive about life. Jesus’ words are intended to teach and inspire. His words call us to live intentionally and purposefully. His words call us to change attitudes and actions. Jesus calls us to wisdom and to spiritual maturity. His words cut to the heart and demonstrate God’s expectations. Some say that the sermon is summed up in 7:12 — Do to others what you would have them do to you. Treat people the way you would like to be treated. The sermon is more than that, but it is a good place to start.
