Sight.
Only God can heal a blind man. The divergent opinions speaks to the absence of faith. Everyone in the story wants to have a theological debate about the man. The disciples want to argue about the origination and consequence of sin. The religious leaders debate the origination of healing power. The parents want no part in this discussion because they are afraid of the outcome. No one seems to really care about the man. He is merely the means to trying to decide who this Jesus is. The man healed has no doubts about who Jesus is. Once he is introduced to Jesus, he worships him. Events unfold in our lives and we have discussions. These discussions can deepen our faith. But there are times when instead of discussions we need to worship. When it is only by God’s power that an event could happen, we worship. When the blindness lifts and we finally have sight, then the only response is “Lord, I believe.”
