Hypocrites.
Hypocrisy is easy to see in others but difficult to see in ourselves. We rarely are able to see the lack of truth in our own lives. We make claims and then do not live up to those claims. We apply standards to others but refuse to live by those same standards. Such hypocrisy was seen in Jesus’ day with the religious leaders. Jesus commends their teaching while denouncing the character of their lives. Let’s make sure that our claims and our conduct go together. Let’s seek consistency in the character of our lives. Let’s make sure that the expectations we have of others are the same expectations we have for ourselves. Let’s pray that our hearts and lives reflect Jesus more and more.
