Galatians 4-6

Freedom.

Paul writes about real freedom. If we allow our righteous acts to prove our spiritual condition we really have no freedom at all. Paul writes that we are caught in a trap of trying to be perfect. Perfection is not freedom. In fact, Paul says that trying to live by perfection is the same thing as falling from grace. Grace is extended to those who announce and acknowledge that they need Jesus. The one who lives by perfection needs no grace. To be completely free is to live by faith in Jesus. When we live by the Spirit, then law is no longer necessary. Paul writes this doesn’t mean we live to satisfy our selfish nature but the Spirit’s presence means that we live and love without a demanding law. True freedom is to live to honor Christ. True freedom is to love without hesitation. True freedom is to experience the release from perfection and to find the grace of God supporting us.
