Conviction.
For over two years Paul was held as a prisoner in the Roman city of Caesarea. While he had some freedom for friends to visit and provide for him, he was not allowed to leave the city and remained under constant watch. Several times he argued persuasively for the gospel. His chains could not stop his mind or his speech as he waited for God to act on his behalf. Learning to wait on God and being faithful as you wait is not easy. While the Bible is silent, I can only imagine the number of times that Paul begged God to change his situation and daily how he prayed for strength to carry on. Waiting on God to act is not only difficult, it is emotionally taxing. Waiting drains us of strength and energy. As we wait for God to act, let us pray each day for strength to carry on. Let us seek energy from God and through his word. May we recognize the power of the resurrection at work in our lives.
