1 Peter

Out of place.
Feeling out of place happens when we are in new surroundings.  It may take a while before things feel familiar.  Getting our bearings about directions, sights, sounds, and customs takes time.  Peter writes that we are to remember that we are out of place in this world.  We often lament that our world is changing and that we may feel like we don’t belong.  While we may feel uncomfortable with changes, they remind us that this world is not our home.  Additionally, those who try to fit into this world will complain that our thoughts are archaic and out of touch.  Being shunned as an outsider is not uncommon.  Let’s remember that we are supposed to be out of place in this world.  Let’s remember that we temporarily occupy a place in this world to demonstrate God’s love and to assist others in knowing that love.  We understand that the quality of our lives matters.  We want others to be impressed with Jesus as they see us.
