Thun Church Timeline

1970-75

  • 1975: Alber Voser and Daniel Steinhauer families leave Zurich church and move to Thun area; house church meets for first time in Steffisburg near Thun

1976-80

  • Late 1970’s: Steinhauer family and some other members begin meeting elsewhere

1981-85

  • Early 1980’s: Albert Voser and Peter Gugger families rent a 40 square meter meeting place in Thun at the corner of Mittlere Strasse and Pestalozzistrasse
  • Mid-1980’s: Rene Voser studies with Wolfram Schrader in Zurich while preaching with his father, Albert, in Thun

1986-90

  • 1988-89: Ivan Voser studies in Kiel, Germany, under Glenn Jones

1991-95

  • 1991: Ivan Voser attends Harding University for one semester living with the McKinneys
  • 1992-95: Rene Voser attends International Bible College in Florence, Alabama
  • 1993: the church gets a larger meeting place, 120 square meter, at same location

1996-2000

  • 1996-98: Ivan Voser attends Oklahoma Christian and finishes with a B.A. in New Testament
  • 1998-2001: Ivan Voser attends Harding Graduate School graduating with a M.Div.

2001-2005

  • 2002: Ivan Voser begins working full time with the Thun congregation overseen by the Park Avenue church in Memphis, Tennessee, receiving part time support

2006-

  • 2006: Albert Voser, Ivan’s father, retires from preaching
  • 2008: church gives up long time meeting place to save money
